Singapore Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement Gazette

It appears that the Department of Trade & Investment Policy received a gazette number from the Government Printing Department without sending it the gazette itself. The Attorney General`s Division informed the Supreme Court today that a committee appointed by the President was in the process of reviewing the agreement. It comes at a time when trade with Sri Lanka is growing. Last year, bilateral trade reached $2.7 billion, more than 27 percent from 2016. Government institutions have the practice of requesting gazette numbers reserved for the government printing department without actually sending them to publication, resulting in complications like this.
